Two standouts for this wine tasting experience are the focus on big reds, and the sweeping Willamette Valley Views. This winery is committed to making full bodied reds, often from warm-climate grapes, such as Cabernet, Zinfandel and Petite Sirah. Owner, Steve Saxton is even working on his own version of Pinot Noir – but you guessed it, he’s undoubtedly going big there too! Visiting on a clear day can be an unexpected surprise, with 4 mountain tops on the horizon to reflect on. The staff is very approachable and even the owners can often be found pouring glasses and sharing stories about past and upcoming harvests.
Bravuro Cellars has two tasting rooms – the Amity Hills winery location (weekends only), and the Newberg tasting room. Coming from Salem, the Amity Hills location is the closest and boasts a significant valley view. While there is a small indoor tasting room, this winery is best viewed outdoors, but can provide covered space with a fireplace for chillier days. If tasting on a weekday, it is best to visit their Newberg location, open 7 days a week, and conveniently located among Newberg’s downtown shops and tasting rooms.
